Frequently Asked Questions

When & Where does the festival take place?

The 2026 festival is on Saturday, August 1st from 12 Noon – 10 PM and takes place at Henry Maier Festival Park  (aka: The Summerfest Grounds), 200 North Harbor Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53202.

Note: Black Arts Fest MKE occurs on the first Saturday in August, each year.

How much are tickets?

General Admission:  $30  ($20 Early Bird Sale through Juneteenth, June 19th)

Seniors: $20

Youth: $12

Kids: Free 7 & Under

What is the entertainment lineup?

We have exciting activities all day, starting at 12 Noon when the festival gate opens! Please see the “Entertainment Lineup” page for schedule and detail.

 

Safety: Are there bag checks or metal detectors?

Yes, every bag will be searched prior to entry. All patrons, including children, are required to pass through metal detection to enter the festival park. NO GUNS allowed, not even with a permit. You cannot bring your own food or drink. 

Are wheelchairs and strollers available?

Yes, you can rent wheelchairs and strollers on a first-come, first-served basis. Our wheelchair & stroller rental area is just inside the mid gate. The rental fee of $8 per rental has been waived. A valid picture ID is required to rent equipment.

 

If I become separated from my child, what do I do?

Find a Summerfest security guard, member of the Milwaukee Police Department, or come to the Northwestern Mutual Kid’s Center for assistance. All lost children will be processed in the Northwestern Mutual Kid’s Center.

 

Can I bring my service animal?

Yes, of course. All eligible service dogs must meet ALL of the following requirements: Animals must be identified with a vest, be on-leash, owner’s must present licensed documentation certifying the animal’s service status (must be in your physical possession), ALL owners are required to clean up after their service animal. NO OTHER PETS ALLOWED. NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

Can I bring my camera?

Yes. We encourage you to capture your memories at Black Arts Fest MKE! We hope you will share them with friends and family on social media, too. Please use hashtag #BAFMKE

 

Can I bring a personal lawn chair, skateboard, wear skates, or bring a wagon?

No, these items are prohibited.

 

What if it rains? Are refunds available?

Grab an umbrella or a rain coat if it rains, because Black Arts Fest MKE occurs rain or shine! Sorry, no refunds will be issued.

Privacy Policy - The Basics

Generally speaking, a Privacy Policy often addresses these types of issues: the types of information the website is collecting and the manner in which it collects the data; an explanation about why is the website collecting these types of information; what are the website’s practices on sharing the information with third parties; ways in which your visitors and customers can exercise their rights according to the relevant privacy legislation; the specific practices regarding minors’ data collection; and much, much more.
